Benefits of Caffeine for Hair Growth
The Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum’s formula features caffeine as a key ingredient, which has been shown to prevent hair loss by blocking the effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) on hair follicles. DHT, a hormone linked to testosterone, causes hair follicles to shrink and leads to thinning, brittleness, or even complete hair loss. This hormonal imbalance can affect both men and women, although it’s more common in men. Caffeine has been proven to prevent DHT from damaging hair follicles.
A 2007 study found that applying caffeine to the scalp resulted in longer, wider hair roots, increased growth rates, and prolonged the anagen phase (the growth stage) for both men and women. Additionally, caffeine promotes blood circulation to the hair root, leading to faster and stronger hair growth over time, which can result in fuller and thicker-looking locks.
While Grow Gorgeous lists a 6% concentration of solubilized caffeine in their Intense Serum, they couldn’t provide information on the original formula’s caffeine content, despite my inquiries. I reached out to their customer service team, who ultimately admitted they didn’t know the exact amount of caffeine in the original formula. A screenshot from our email exchange is provided below.
Benefits of Pea Sprout for Hair Growth
The Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum’s formulation features pea sprout extract as its second key component, aiming to stimulate the hair roots. A notable study from 2019 demonstrated that taking a daily dose of 100mg pea sprout extract resulted in a substantial reduction in hair loss after just 28 days. This could be attributed to the extract’s ability to shorten the telogen phase of the growth cycle and fortify the hair follicle.
While there is limited research on the topical application of pea sprout extract for hair growth, its oral consumption has been linked to impressive results.
Benefits of Red Clover for Hair Growth
The Grow Gorgeous Growth Serum’s formula gets an extra boost from red clover, also known as trifolium pratense flower extract. This natural ingredient plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy hair follicles. Research has shed light on the impressive benefits of red clover for hair growth and loss prevention. A 2013 study discovered that applying a 5% red clover extract solution to the scalp over four months led to a notable 13% increase in hair growth and a 29% decrease in hair loss.
Furthermore, a separate investigation revealed that 109 postmenopausal women experienced significant improvements in their hair texture after taking 80mg of red clover extract for three months. These findings underscore the potential of red clover as a valuable addition to the Growth Serum’s formula, supporting overall scalp health and promoting thicker, fuller locks.
How to Use the Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum
You can use the serum on either dry or towel-dried hair. To start, apply 20 drops to your scalp and massage it in thoroughly. If there’s any excess product, you can smooth it through your hair. It’s essential not to rinse out the serum. For optimal results, continue using it daily for at least three months. In my experience, applying the serum to dry hair rather than damp hair made it easier to massage into my scalp. The product comes with a dropper, making application straightforward.
Upon first use, I was pleased with its pleasant aroma and how well it absorbed into my scalp. Unlike other serums that left an oily residue, this one had a lightweight texture that didn’t weigh my hair down. While the serum does leave a slight greasiness at the roots, it’s not overly noticeable compared to other products I’ve tried. One unexpected side effect I encountered was its impact on my sleep.
The first day I used it, I felt unusually alert, but later that night, I struggled to fall asleep. It wasn’t until then that I remembered the serum contains caffeine. As someone sensitive to caffeine, I can only tolerate it in the morning. To avoid disrupting my sleep, going forward, I’ll apply the product first thing in the morning.
Pros and Cons of the Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum
While using the product, I noticed a moderate improvement in hair regrowth, with a noticeable increase of around 7% compared to my starting point. To give you a better idea, I’ve included my before-and-after photos for your reference.

The first thing that struck me about this serum was its luxurious aroma. It has a rich, indulgent scent reminiscent of high-end hair care products. Using it was also a breeze – I found the formula easy to massage into my scalp, and it absorbed beautifully into my skin without leaving any greasy residue behind. What’s more, the texture is surprisingly watery, which I appreciated given that many serums can feel thick or oily. And as an added bonus, this product is 100% vegan-friendly.
Cons
The Intense Serum, while distinct from its Original counterpart, has some notable effects on the hair and scalp. Specifically, it leaves the hair looking greasy and feeling crispy, a stark contrast to the Original’s ability to absorb well without leaving any residue.
In addition, the caffeine content in this product had an unexpected impact on my sleep patterns – I found that using it too close to bedtime would disrupt my restful slumber, prompting me to now only use it first thing in the morning. Furthermore, the serum’s greasy texture has led me to wash my hair more frequently than usual, which, as someone with dry hair, has resulted in the ends of my locks becoming slightly drier.
Lastly, I’ve experienced a mild headache after using the Intense Serum, likely due to the stimulating effects of its caffeine content.

After 2 Months
Two months into my routine, I began to notice subtle yet encouraging changes in my hair’s texture. While it was difficult to pinpoint exactly when new hairs started emerging, I did observe that my locks had gained a noticeable amount of volume. Although I hadn’t expected dramatic results at this early stage, the serum’s potential impact couldn’t be entirely dismissed. Its effects, though gradual, hinted at a promising outcome as my hair continued to respond to its nourishing properties.
After 3 Months
After three months of using the Original Serum, I switched to the Intense Serum. Notably, the intense serum was more oily and failed to absorb as seamlessly into my scalp compared to its predecessor. As a result, I found myself washing my hair more frequently, which wasn’t ideal given the product’s intended purpose.
The accompanying photograph showcases my scalp after three months of daily use. While my hair did appear thicker, a faint patch remained on top of my head.
To demonstrate the serum’s effects, I’ve included two photographs side by side – one depicting my initial state before using the product and the other showing the results after three months. Upon closer inspection, I’m hard-pressed to notice significant differences.
